CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 07, 2009 –Linguistic Systems, Inc. (LSI), a leading provider of language translation services, today announced that it has been ISO 9001:2008 certified, a quality management standard for all businesses. This is the second ISO certification for LSI as they were certified to the ISO 9001:2001 standard, the precursor to ISO 9001:2008. ISO 9001 is maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and requires an organization to fulfill a rigorous examination of their quality management system.
ISO 9001:2008 was developed to help both product and service organizations achieve standards of quality that are recognized and respected throughout the world. Regardless of size, type, or product, an organization that accomplishes ISO 9001 certification has successfully undergone a comprehensive, meticulous assessment and their process and organization meet defined standards of quality. Certification ensures that products and services have consistently met customer expectations.
To earn this certification, LSI had to demonstrate:
- a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business
- monitoring processes to ensure they are effective
- adequate records
- checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary
- regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness
- facilitating continual improvement
